TOWNWIDE KEY THEMES/PRIORITIES
Concerns regarding protecting water quality in all forms – harbors, rivers, ponds,
drinking water
Diverse community character that is unique in each village to be preserved
Preserve historic structures, features, and ways that provide Cape Cod charm
Need for more housing options and opportunities at affordable prices for all ages
More opportunities for children recreation, village events, and general family
services such as medical access, specialized education, etc.
Desire for more opportunities to form community connections and get to know
neighbors
Need to protect the environmental resources Barnstable maintains including open
space, beaches, lakes, ponds, habitat, trails, vistas, etc.
Protect and enhance tourist appeal, such as quaint cape cod features, beaches, open
space, etc.
Preserve and enhance tree canopy throughout town but especially in Hyannis
General concern over traffic, speeding concerns, and pedestrian safety
Create more year-round employment opportunities, especially in the Blue Economy
and job sectors that provide living wages
Improved safety in village centers and supportive health services for those in need
Desire for more proactive communication and transparency from town government
