Thank you for the opportunity to present an updated application for the Town of Barnstable parklet proposal.
This project was developed in partnership with the Cape Cod RTA and Hyannis Business Improvement District
with the intention of increasing ridership in CCRTA’s seasonal trolley service and promoting multi-modal
transportation in downtown Hyannis. Funding for the project is being provided by a Massachusetts Department
of Transportation (MassDOT) Shared Streets and Spaces grant.
In response to concerns raised at the previous HHDC meeting, revisions have been made to the Town of
Barnstable parklets proposal. We are now seeking the approval of four parklets (reduced from six) that will be
8’ x 20’ in size (reduced from 8’ x 40’ so they occupy only one parking spot). Please see the photo below
indicating the proposed locations in red and the attached materials for updated renderings.
The parklet materials will remain the same – black steel framing with black steel mesh siding that will be see-
through. A navy blue vinyl canopy will cover the parklets with string lighting attached and the floor decking
will be gray. Included in the design will be a 4’ bike rack with a black steel frame. With the reduction in parklet
size, the picnic tables originally proposed will be replaced with a sitting bench made of black steel.
