Preservation Award Guidelines 2022Preservation Awards Guidelines for Selection of the Town of Barnstable’s Preservation Awards 1.)   Preservation Project Award        Given to an individual(s) or organization that has restored, rehabilitated, or reconstructed a historic structure, building, property, or landscape in the Town of Barnstable in the year of 202X.   2.)   Preservation Service Award        Given to an individual whose acts have shown a commitment to the preservation of the history of the Town of Barnstable. In the past, this award has been received for such acts as:        • researching/preserving historic documents, photographs, artifacts of Barnstable’s past        • authoring books on the history of Barnstable        • offering lectures and/or tours on the history of the Town of Barnstable        • educating the public of our Town’s history via newspaper, radio, blog or website        • participating in the activities/missions of organizations dedicated to enriching and/or preserving   Barnstable’s rich history The applications will be reviewed by the Barnstable Historical Commission’s (BHC) for nominations.  BHC members who have nominated an individual or structure/landscape should recuse themselves from the sub-committee. The names of the individuals/organizations that the BHC sub-committee recommends for the Preservation Awards will then be offered to the BHC for consideration and selection. A vote by BHC members will be taken for each suggested recipient one month after the sub-committee’s recommendations. _______ The awards will be presented by a member(s) of the BHC at a Town Council meeting when possible.
