Public Comment #3Laura E Fletcher-Gilmore 10 Second Way Barnstable MA, 02630 Lalagf22@gmail.com 619-813-4792 June 21, 2022 Subject: Regarding the solar panel installation at 24 Second Way Barnstable Village Map 319 Parcel 004/000 To the OKH Committee: I am the next door neighbor of Wayne and Evelyn Bassett whom are located at 24 Second Way in Barnstable Village. I reside at my family’s home at 10 Second Way. I was both surprised and disappointed to hear of the committee’s decision to reject the Bassett’s solar plan project given the discrete location deemed most effective to maximize the saving’s and efficiency of the solar panels. It’s troubling that as progressive a state as we are and the imminent need to move to more sustaining energy sources, especially given the declining rebates in years ahead. The location of the rejected solar panels on their home seems an ideal spot and certainly advantageous to cutting down mature trees in order to access sunshine that is readily available where they were originally selected to be placed. I live across the street from another home where solar panels were installed last year. I can much more clearly see these two sets of solar panels than I would those proposed to be installed on the Bassett’s house. While I certainly did not have any concerns with the neighbors across the street installing these energy efficient solar panels which are visible from the front of my house, I don’t see any reason for the location of the Bassett’s solar panels to be rejected. This decision seems inconsistent and contrary to measures needed to address global warming and seeking out alternative energy sources. I hope your committee will reconsider this decision and remove barriers for both the Bassett’s and those of us coming behind them. Respectfully, Laura Fletcher-Gilmore
