Public Comment #7Robert and Denise Guest 11 Marsh Lane Hyannis, Ma 02601 May 16, 2022 Nancy Clark Chair Barnstable Historical Commission 367 Main Street Hyannis, Ma. 02601 Dear Nancy Clark: I am currently a neighbor of Bill and Sherry Lawson who reside at 133 Gosnold St. They recently appeared before this board to request approval to demolish their property and replace it with a more updated and efficient building that better suits their lifesty le. The new design appears to coincide with a more traditional cape style ranch that exist in this neighborhood. They were initially refused this request because of the historical nature of the existing building. I did watch the video of your meeting with the Lawsons. The only historic reference made to this property was its age. It is my contention that there are more significant criteria which should have been considered to determine if this property is truly historic. I believe the following should have been considered but were never mentioned.  It’s connected to significant, historical events  It’s connected to the lives of significant individuals  It’s considered an embodiment of a particular master or historic style  It has provided or is likely to provide important historical information I did not hear any of these items discussed during the meeting and I do not believe any of these conditions were met as they pertain to th eir property. I request you reconsider your decision and allow the Lawsons to move forward with their request to tear down and rebuild on their property site. Respectfully, Robert and Denise Guest
